Yeah, Andy has done a really good job with the ol' Xterra. He's done a good bit of work to it since this video was shot, and it's even better now! The trail is very basic. It's just a well-maintained forest service road.

The trail is just a gravel road. Any car can make it down. There's seriously paved roads here in Hampton Roads that are bumpier. The tent is great! Opening it is super-easy. The gas-shocks on it make it really easy to open. I have back problems, and it's no issue at all to open...takes minimal effort.

I hope that you're able to make your bucket list trip happen one day. I'm hoping to make a return trip out there myself.

I'm glad that you liked the video. Making them costs a good chunk of money, so I leave the door open for those that are inclined, to help offset the cost of making them. If you aren't so inclined, then you can always just keep on watching and pay no attention to the request.

It's definitely worth heading out there and exploring the area!

It's a great trail. With the advent of navigation apps like OnX and Gaia, it's inevitable that trails like this will become more well-known and popular. All we can do is encourage responsible use of the land.

@@DefiantOffroad yes I have seen that video and I seen that site you used today. Did you make it up to the air traffic control tower at the top. That was cool to find.

We didn't venture up to the tower. My task for that weekend was to map the Pedlar River trail for OnX and then just relax at camp!

Trashing a trail/campsite is one of my biggest pet peeves. This area was surprisingly clean though. I don't recall seeing any litter along the trail itself (I generally pick up trash a long trails). The campsite that we stayed in had some trash in it, but it was largely confined to the fire ring, so it was an easy cleanup. I think that the most trashed place I've ever visited was the New Jersey Pine Barrens. That place was outright disgusting in spots.

It's about 10 mi long, so you could probably do it in an hour to an hour and a half, depending on your pace. It took me longer because I was filming.

Many years ago I did, until a nice FWC officer let me off with a warning for going off trail.

It's a prototype model. I don't believe that they have any immediate plans to put it into production, which is a shame, because it's pretty good!

I'd argue that the mountains are still enjoyable, for the people out there enjoying them. Over the years, I've racked up thousands of miles off pavement. As far south as central Florida, as far north as New Hampshire, and as far west as Nevada. From gravel and dirt roads to crawling up rocks at Moab. What I've seen in that time is that people get their enjoyment in different ways. Some for the challenge, some for the sights, some to just get away. No one's motivation for going off road is any more (or any less) valid than anyone else's.

This model doesn't appear to be listed on their website. If you follow the link that I provided to their amazon store, you'll see that the item description states 5 year warranty.

Perhaps you should contact them directly for clarification then. The info that I was provided when I shot the video back in December said 3 years. When I edited the video for release in January, I received updated warranty info saying that the warranty was now five years.
